GPB Celebrates Two of Drama’s Greatest Dames
Dame Judi Dench and Dame Agatha Christie have brought the world some of the most memorable characters in drama. GPB celebrates their accomplishments with special tributes beginning Saturday, July 6 at 9 PM with the broadcast of two episodes of the hit Britcom “As Time Goes By,” which starred Dench as Jean Pargetter from 1992-2005. At 10 PM, Dench stars as Miss Matty Jenkyns in Masterpiece Classic’s “Return to Cranford.” Christie achieved international fame as a crime writer and dramatist, creating two equally popular detectives – Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot. You can see both of them putting their sleuthing skills to the test Sunday, July 5 beginning at 5 PM wiith the broadcast of Masterpiece Mystery’s “Miss Marple, Series, IV: Murder is Easy,” followed by “Poirot X: Murder on the Orient Express” at 6:30 PM.
Be Safe in the Sun
According to the American Cancer Society, each year more than one million Americans are diagnosed with skin cancer – the most common form of cancer. As the largest organ of the body, your skin serves many functions, including covering internal organs and protecting them from injury. So how can you protect your skin? One of the greatest risk factors for skin cancer includes unprotected and/or excessive exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation (sunlight or tanning booths). It is vitally important to use sunscreen, but there are so many different choices, it’s hard to know which one to choose. But with new FDA regulations, sunscreen labels are becoming more user-friendly.
