The breakdown:
1. Political Rewind is canceled after an almost 10-year run.
- Political Rewind's last show will be on June 30.
- The move came after the Legislature cut $1.4 million from Georgia Public Broadcasting's operating budget.
- GPB's newsroom is independently funded through viewer donations.
- Host Bill Nigut plans to move on to other projects outside of GPB.
- Production talent will remain with the company.
- Nigut received an outpouring of support following this announcement.
2. This week marks one year since the reversal of Roe v. Wade.
- A year after Dobbs, 61% of respondents to a Gallup poll said overturning Roe was a "bad thing," while 38% said it was a "good thing."
- Because of the U.S. Supreme Court's decisions, Georgia's six-week abortion ban was brought into place in July 2022.
- Georgia's law is still being challenged in courts.
3. Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger challenged former President Trump to a debate.
- Raffensperger and Trump have been at odds since Trump infamously called him asking him to find more than 11,000 votes after losing Georgia in 2020.
Wednesday on Political Rewind: Emory University's Andra Gillespie joins the show.
