Fernbank Forestry Day With GPB VR Lab
Presented in partnership with the Georgia Forestry Foundation, climb into the world of working forests.
You interact with forests every single day, whether you realize it or not! Come find out how at Fernbank’s Forestry Day, where they’ll provide hands-on activities exploring how working forests can be a natural solution to great climate challenges, including GPB's mobile virtual reality (VR) lab. You can even snag a picture with Smokey Bear while you’re at it!

STEAM Lab, Naturalist Center

Explore real-life working forests with the help of virtual reality.
Smokey Bear
Great Hall, Lower Level

Meet and take pictures with Smokey Bear as he makes pop-up appearances throughout the day.
Georgia Forestry Commission Fire Team
Dinosaur Plaza
10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Get up close with real wildfire fighting equipment and even meet wildfire fighters from the Georgia Forestry Commission.
Warnell Drone Lab

Did you know that we use drones in forestry? Come find out how and see our drones in action. Presented by the University of Georgia Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources.
Tree Climbing with Arborguard
Highline Trace, WildWoods

Come see a professional arborist demonstrate the safe and effective way they ascend into a canopy of trees reaching up to 160-feet tall in WildWoods.
Nature Walks with EcoLogic
Meet at the Treepod, WildWoods
Nature walks - 11:15 a.m., 12:30 p.m.
EcoLogic is a habitat rehabilitation company that uses nature-based solutions to restore local biodiversity. Join them for a guided walk in WildWoods and get the chance to view the native habitat and explore forest artifacts.
Gopher Tortoise Encounter with the Chattahoochee Nature Center
Great Hall, Lower Level

See a live gopher tortoise and learn more from a Chattahoochee Nature Center naturalist about the forest habitat it depends on.
Georgia Audubon Society
Isdell Wildlife Preserve, WildWoods

Visit the Georgia Audubon Society to learn some basic bird identification as well as all the ways we can help our native birds, everyday.
