Electrochemistry: Electrochemistry, oxidation, reduction, and redox reactions are defined, and students learn to assign oxidation numbers to elements in a reaction. Students learn to identify the substance that is oxidized and the substance that is reduced in an oxidation-reduction reaction. Three types of oxidation-reduction reactions are described.
