GHSA 1A Public Final: Brooks County vs. Irwin County Football Fridays in Georgia
Brooks County’s Omari “O.J.” Arnold broke Herschel Walker’s 1979 state championship game rushing record by two yards, rushing for 320 yards and five touchdowns as the Trojans beat region rival Irwin County 56-28 for the 1-A Public championship. Arnold burst through the line for a 70-yard touchdown on the second play from scrimmage. He later added scoring runs of 86, 56, 36 and 3 yards.
