Lamar Taylor

Mr. Lamar Sanford Taylor, currently in Macon, Georgia, was born on March 29, 1915, in Greene County, Georgia. Mr. Taylor recounts his memories as a Navy ensign on the battleship California at Pearl Harbor during the Japanese bombing December 7, 1941. After spending some time in the Pacific in the rear echelon at both Midway and Guadal Canal, Mr. Taylor returned to the United States to train to operate a submarine. The remainder of his service was spent patrolling the coast of the Americas. Mr. Taylor ultimately became a submarine commander.
