Mark L. Schaefer was born in August of 1923. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served in the European theatre until becoming a P.O.W. Mr. Schaefer discusses getting shot down on his 18th mission, what conditions in a P.O.W. camp were like, and how he managed to keep his head even though he was incarcerated.
