Myrtle Edwards

Mrs. Myrtle Faye Edwards was born on February 5, 1923, in West Virginia. She served in the Women’s Army Corps (WAC), attaining the rank of Tech Sergeant. Mrs. Edwards’ stories about training include meeting Lana Turner, secret documents, and antics to avoid roll call. When shipped overseas, Mrs. Edwards witnessed first hand the devastation wrought by war in both France and Germany. She was subject to the attack of snipers but also to the disrespect of American soldiers. Her comments on both are illuminating.
