Richard Giffin

Mr. Richard Hugh Giffin was born on May 23, 1921 and served in the Army Air Corps. Mr. Giffin’s overseas duty was on Iwo Jima where the 90th service group manned the warehouses. While there, Mr. Giffin’s brother was wounded and died in a hospital on Iwo Jima. He describes meeting another brother during his tour of duty on Iwo Jima and visiting the grave of his brother, whom he considered a hero. Mr. Giffin received the Good Conduct Medal twice.
