Georgia Tech announces the Institute for Robotics and Intelligent Machines.

With Georgia Tech being one of the top premier robotics research universities in the nation, it is not surprising that they have announced a new research institute: The Institute for Robotics and Intelligent Machines (IRIM). This is just one of ten Interdisciplinary Research Institutes launched by Georgia Tech.

Gary S. May, Dean of the College of Engineering states, “Our engineering faculty members are some of the best in the world. They are making important advances in healthcare, manufacturing and personal robotics, to name a few. I am confident their contributions to IRIM will help secure Georgia Tech’s reputation as a leader in this critical technological domain.”

IRIM will bring together robotics researchers from across the campus, industry partnerships, private industry and government to help support and connect research initiatives for the National Robotics Initiative established in 2012 by President Obama. Many of the collaberated projects will apply to health care, national security and manufacturing.
