WEEK 5: NUMBER 1 VS NUMBER 4

This week's web game should be a dandy. Top ranked, undefeated, 5-0
Buford taking on undefeated, 4th ranked, and 3-0 Lovett.
The Buford Wolves are going for state history. Coach Jess Simpson's
team has won 4 straight state titles and are now setting their sights on a record fifth in
a row. No school in the history of Georgia high school football has ever
won five in a row. They are doing it this year behind qb Sam Clay, running
backs C.J.Moore, Jaylen Mize, and Nathan Staub. The Wolves have scored a bunch:
42 in game one followed by 49, 35, 49, and 49. The Wolves defense has alowed just
two touchdowns, 14 points in 5 games.

Lovett is looking forward to the challenge. Coach Mike Muschamp is in his
7th year at Lovett. His Lions are led by running back Grant Haley and wide receiver
and saftey, Cyrus Wilson. He has alot of respect for Buford and what the Wolves
have accomplished and knows his team will have to play a near perfect game
to pull off the upset. He tells me that the thing he likes most about this
years team is that they play hard and they play together.

Game time is 7:30 on gpb.org/sports.

On the TV side last week, it was great fun to watch Marist and Southwest
Dekalb play. I have been around the Atlanta sports scene for along time,
19 years now, and I am just a kid next to S W Dekalb's Buck Godfrey who has
coached the Panthers for 29 years and Alan Chadwich who has been at Marist for
27 years. It was a great game and its always fun to talk football with Marist
athletic director Tommy Marshall.

This week we are at Mill Creek where the Hawks will host Norcross.
Game time 7:54.......I can't wait.
