Some statements are made... some take their time...

Last week, ML King made their statement going down to Bazemore-Hyder Stadium and knocking off Valdosta 16-3. And it doesn't get any better for Rance Gillespie's Wildcats with this week's "Winnersville Classic" game versus Lowndes over at Martin Stadium...

And then the rest of region 1-5A gets to beat up on each other for the rest of the regular season...

And THEN there's the playoffs... How's that for being on the backstretch of the regular season...???

As always, these are in no particular order... and I welcome your thoughts at the bottom of the page...

First thing I know... There are a lot of teams that are unbeaten that you wouldn't necessarily associate with that particular term- and that's a good thing...

Adairsville is 5-0 for the first time in almost a quarter-century. Bryan County went 0-10 last year and is 5-0. Butler-Augusta could make the playoffs for the first time in 8 years. And, plugging a few teams that are showing up on GPB in the next two weeks, East Coweta and Heritage, Conyers are undefeated heading into their 6th and 7th games of the year. The games against Stephenson (in two weeks) and Flowery Branch (next week) should be the first tests as they both hit the home stretch.

Second thing I know... This is the week for match-ups again...

We already know about the "Winnersville Classic." But on gpb.org/sports, you've got North Gwinnett and Norcross. Bulldogs head coach Bob Sphire is, already, telling Mark Harmon how his team is in trouble against the Blue Devils.

Region 2-A's "Region of Doom" has Wilcox traveling down to Charlton County for another knock-out, knock-down game to determine the region playoff picture- where defending champ in single-A Clinch could be the fourth seed.

Northside (the Warner Robins version) hosts Lee County to see if the Eagles stay as the one-seed in Region 1-Quad A. Ware and Glynn Academy are both 4-1 and the Terrors go to Memorial Stadium to see if the Gators can stay near the top of their sub-region. Mays and Tucker are both undefeated in Region 6. Lambert plays Johns Creek, Carrollton has LaGrange, Baldwin is at Perry, Brooks is at Cook, Dublin plays Laney, Prince Avenue has George Walton Academy, and Bowdon plays Darlington.

Is that enough for you...???

Third thing I know... It was cool to see the game on the web side last week, Ringgold at Heritage, Catoosa, be the game of the week and the "Game of the Week." 20-19 in overtime for the visiting Tigers and Robert Akins and his team are now 4-1 and rolling in the sub-region...

And it was a wild ending...

Here's the highlights, thanks to our friends at WTVC-TV in Chattanooga
Darrell Patterson stands at the anchor table...

Here's the second half... it's worth the watch...

Great story, great kids, and an even better town...

Fourth thing I know...

Three cheers for New Manchester High and their 19-13 win over North Springs. New Manchester is a new school in Douglasville, played their first varsity game, and got its first victory by beating North Springs in two overtimes. New Manchester had played three junior varsity games, beating Central of Carrollton, Lithia Springs and Alexander.

Congrats to the newness and New Manchester...

Fifth thing I know... shameless plug alert...

This week on the TV side, it's a battle of unbeatens that are about 4 miles apart...
Hillgrove and McEachern are playing at the newly (and still being) renovated Cantrell Stadium where the Indians are top-ranked and Hillgrove is another top ten squad. The Indians are going to stop the running game of Kenyon Adams and the Hawks are trying to stop the passing game of Trent Thompson.

Pre-game is a little before 8PM...

The web side has the North-Norcross game that will start a little before 7:30...

So follow us on TV, the web, or on our iPhone app... just follow...
And don't forget us on Facebook and Twitter... friend us and tweet your thoughts to Jackie Brit-uh during the game...

Play it safe, everyone.... I'll talk to you soon...
