I guess the biggest word from this past week is: upsets…

And the biggest one goes from Tucker’s loss to Stephenson…

I know what you’re saying… that’s not really an upset…
But look at it this way…The Tigers had won 20 straight heading into the game Friday night- dating back to the 2010 season.

Add to that, Savannah Christian taking out Calvary Day, Centennial beating Lambert, and Brooks beating Fitzgerald at Jaycee Stadium and we had a handful of fun a few days ago…

On with the show…

First thing I know… Winnersville confirmed why Winnersville is Winnersville…

Gustavo Gonzales kicked a 40-yard field goal on the last play of the game as Lowndes won 17-14. They were down 14-6 in the fourth quarter at one point.

Looking at region 1-6A, it’s an interesting mix right now as to who is where for the post-season…

Camden County3-07-0
Lowndes3-07-0
Coffee2-15-2
Colquitt County1-14-2
Brunswick0-23-3
Valdosta0-23-3
Tift County0-32-5

Looking at this, the Wildcats are really going to have to get after it if they’re even going to make the playoffs. But head coach Rance Gillespie has four games left to make his run…

Second Thing I Know… Triple-A might be the most fun class to watch as we head toward the playoffs…

If you look at the Top-10, you have Peach County, Thomson, and Washington County (with the Bulldogs and Golden Hawks in the same region), leading Buford, Pius, Carver-Columbus, and Cartersville…
Thomson and WaCo each put up 57 in their region games against Swainsboro and Jefferson County.

Third Thing I Know… Any reports of the demise of Single-A champ Savannah Christian were severely premature…

Christian and Calvary Day went at it on the coast and proved that Region 3 is still up for grabs… surprising no one…

But if you think about everything going on down on the coast, you have Vidalia, Statesboro, ECI, and a little Benedictine for your recipe for Fridays all making waves.

That’ll be fun to see over the next few weeks…

Fourth Thing I Know… If you look at the power rankings in the Single-A Public section, 39 schools are chasing 16 spots, and it looks like five teams could make it from Region 2- Irwin (your surprise, early clubhouse leader), Wilcox, Clinch, Charlton, and Turner.

This region is in the blender already and will need all ten games to figure out who will be where. The advantage is to get in the top half and be no worse than the 8 seed so you’re guaranteed, at least, one home game in all this travel.

Big Marvin tells the tale as Wilcox took on and took out Turner County at The Clack…

Are things settled there…??? Far from it…

Fifth Thing I Know… time for the plug…

“Football Fridays” spends its next two weeks in DeKalb County and Region 6-5A as Southwest DeKalb takes on a very mad Tucker team this week. Stephenson’s upset (mentioned briefly above) gets Coach Bryan Lamar in Buck Godfrey’s cross-hairs this time around.

The “All-Access Pass” with Mark, Jenn, David, Niki, Rayven, Gil, Trey, and “Moi” gets underway at Memorial Stadium at 7:30 with kickoff around 8:06 or so…

GPB.org has another good game as well with Lassiter taking on Milton- kickoff there is 7:30

So, download the app, like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, watch the games on the air, or on the web, and be a part of our Fridays as we’re a part of yours…

Play it safe, everybody… I’ll talk to you soon…
