As Jazz Appreciation Month comes to a close, today is the opportunity to wrap it up in fine fashion!

In November 2011, during the UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) General Conference, the international community proclaimed April 30th as "International Jazz Day". The Day is intended to raise awareness in the international community of the virtues of jazz as an educational tool, and a force for peace, unity, dialogue and enhanced cooperation among people. Many governments, civil society organizations, educational institutions, and private citizens currently engaged in the promotion of jazz music will embrace the opportunity to foster greater appreciation not only for the music but also for the contribution it can make to building more inclusive societies.

The celebration began on Friday, April 27 with UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, Herbie Hancock in Paris, France with a live feed and an amazing line-up of artists!

Today, celebrations and performances are scheduled in New Orleans and New York! Go to jazzday.com or participate in the push for trending on twitter, #jazzday.

Remember, be inspired by Jazz Music and Culture, EVERYDAY!

Happy International Jazz Day!!!
