Inspections show Veterans Department medical facilities made significant progress fixing problems that potentially exposed thousands of patients to HIV and other infections.

Veterans from three hospitals in the Southeast, including one in Augusta, were told they may have been exposed to infections during colonoscopies or other endoscopic procedures.

In a new report, the Inspector General of Veterans Affairs says that surprise visits to 128 medical facilities revealed all were compliant in following procedures.
