After two years of planning and construction Little League International is opening its new stadium and headquarters in Middle Georgia on Saturday.
In 2007 a little league team from Warner Robins won the national championship. Two years later their girl’s softball team won the same honor.
The attention from the wins helped Warner Robins beat out several cities to become the new home of Little League’s Southeastern Regional Headquarters. Morgan Law with the Houston County Development Authority says the new complex takes up nearly 3o acres.
“The crown jewel is the stadium which is really a beautiful complex. It has about 25-hundred actual seats and then it has hillside seating in the outfield for hopefully another 25-hundred.”
The complex will host major, annual, regional tournaments in July and August, bringing 4-million dollars to the local economy.
