Georgia Voter Turnout Normal for Off Year
Primary Content
As polls open tomorrow, over 760 thousand Georgians already cast their ballots early.
When the president was on the ballot 2 years ago, over 2 million Georgians cast early ballots and the states total turnout reached 85 percent. But this is an election year, fewer people are historically drawn to the polls say Matt Carrothers with the Georgia Secretary of state’s office.
“The past two off year elections have been 48 percent 54 percent respectively, so it could very well fall within that range.”
Carrothers says sample ballots for all precincts can be viewed on the secretary of state’s website. And for the first time this year over 2000 military and overseas voters downloaded their ballots thanks to a new federal program.
