Atlanta Accepts Airport Guns
Primary Content

Atlanta will not fight laws allowing permitted gun owners to carry into unsecured areas of Hartsfield- Jackson International Airport. A state law passed earlier this year allows weapons in curbside areas. But the measure was met by opposition from Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed.
A pro-gun organization sees Atlanta’s ‘back down’ as a victory. Jerry Henry with ‘Georgia Carry’ says the group is celebrating the move to uphold state law over city government preferences.
“We fought to get a couple of bills passed last year and SB308 has been ruled that it allows licensed carriers to carry within the non-sterile areas of the airport.”
Legal gun carriers are still prohibited by federal law from carrying a gun inside the airport. They are allowed to check guns with their baggage for flights.
Currently, there is a bill in Congress challenging this law.
