Georgia will have two new U.S. House members take their oath in Washington later today as the new Congress convenes.

Tifton Republican Austin Scott out of Georgia’s 8th district, and Lawrenceville Republican Rob Woodall from the 7th.

The GOP holds 8 of the state’s 13 House seats.

Concerning committee membership, Republican Tom Graves of Ranger is the newest to sit on the House Appropriations panel. He will join two other Georgians there -- fellow Savannah Republican Jack Kingston, and Albany Democrat Sanford Bishop.
