The Georgia Environmental Protection Division is investigating the dumping of medical waste near the Satilla River in Ware County.

A Riverkeeper discovered a bag containing syringes, medicine bottles, and disposable gloves at a public boat dock near a major road.

The items inside did contain identifying markers such as names. An investigation has been opened, and charges will be filed against the persons responsible.

The Satilla River-Keepers monitor the river to keep it clean.

The EPD cannot comment on an ongoing investigation, but is confident that the polluters will be apprehended.
