Forecasters say light snow will be possible late Monday night and into Tuesday morning across northern and central Georgia.

A rain-snow mix is expected in parts of central Georgia.

The National Weather Service said in a statement that ground temperatures are expected to remain well above freezing, so that any falling snow will melt on impact in most of the state.

Forecasters say the exception will be in the higher elevations of the north Georgia mountains, where up to an inch of snow could fall by noon Tuesday.
