Dozens of residents in Georgia's southeast corner remain cut off from their homes by floodwaters in Camden County, where the St. Marys River continues to rise.

Mark Crews, the county's emergency management director, said Monday owners of about 45 homes are still unable to return home after flooding put roads in their neighborhood underwater Saturday, prompting an evacuation order.

Crews says the river is still rising, though at a slower pace, and may not crest for another day or two. No other areas have required evacuations.

The St. Marys River forms the Georgia-Florida border near the coast. It's been carrying floodwaters downstream since being inundated with rain by Tropical Storm Debby.

Last week the river crested at 12 feet above flood stage in neighboring Charlton County.
