Albany Judge Faces Reprimand
Primary Content
The state's judicial watchdog has issued a private letter of reprimand against an Albany judge following his arrest last year.
The Judicial Qualifications Commission said Monday that Municipal Court Judge Willie Weaver brought discredit on the judicial system when he was arrested during an incident involving his wife in May 2011. Special District Attorney Denise Fachini of Cordele dismissed the warrant against Weaver when he successfully completing an anger management and counseling program.
Albany's city commission initially suspended Weaver from the bench. The Albany Herald reports that he was reinstated in November.
Besides Albany, Weaver also serves as a municipal court judge in Dawson and Sylvester. Weaver did not immediately return a message left with his assistant.
