The so-called birthday tax on cars is over for people who buy vehicles starting Friday.

Lawmakers last year replaced the annual tax on the value of your vehicle with a one-time title tax paid when you buy a car.

However, anyone currently paying the yearly ad valorem tax will continue to do so until they purchase another vehicle.
