Officials from the Columbus Regional Healthcare System say reductions in federal funding have led to the elimination of 47 positions.

Company officials said Wednesday that employees who are impacted by the eliminations will be allowed to reapply for other positions within the company or be offered a severance package.

The company's senior media relations and marketing manager Anne Holmes (http://bit.ly/18vnTp2 ) tells the Ledger-Enquirer of Columbus positions being eliminated aren't concentrated to one division but will be spread throughout the system.

The company anticipated a reduction in federal funding and had been looking to cut expenses over the past 15 months.
