Robins Air Force Base has a new installation commander.

Col. Chris Hill took command of the 78th Air Base Wing Friday. He takes over from Col. Mitchel Butikofer.

For the last year, Hill was deputy commander of maintenance for the Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex, the largest organization at the base. It was his second tour at Robins, the only base he's served at twice in his 22 years in the Air Force.

Butikofer, who was installation commander for two years, is headed for a job at the Pentagon.

Responsibilities of the 78th Air Base Wing include base security, fire protection, building and road maintenance and recreation.
