Forecasters are predicting another week of heavy rain and thunderstorms across Georgia. If you feel like it's been a particularly rainy season, you’re right.

State climatologist Bill Murphey says April was the 6th wettest in Georgia on record, with an average of 7.2 inches across the state.
He expects more heavy rain this week leading into a wet fall and even a wet winter.

"We're coming out of this neutral pattern, transitioning toward an El Nino pattern, said Murphey. “And that typically has bigger signal for the fall and winter for us, keeping moisture streams going across the southern part of the state and Florida, and then the northern part of the state."

This wet year comes on the heels of another particularly wet year, which itself was proceeded by three years of record drought.
