Ga. Has Second Most Thanksgiving Cooking Fires

This Thanksgiving, be sure to keep a closer eye on that roasting or frying turkey.

State Farm reports Georgians filed the second highest number of cooking claims on Thanksgiving 2013. Seven claims were filed.

The company also says eight additional Thanksgiving grease fire claims were made .

The insurer advises Thanksgiving cooks to refrain from consuming alcohol while preparing the meal. It also recommends staying in the kitchen while simmering, baking, roasting or boiling food and keeping flammable utensils, oven mitts or food packaging away from the stovetop.
