When the Civil Rights-era desegregation order on Savannah-Chatham public schools was lifted in 1994, 11 schools were still considered segregated. Today, that number is 26. Savannah Morning News education reporter Jenel Few explores why in a series that will wrap up this weekend. She tells GPB's Emily Jones the resegregation has been an unintended consequence of efforts to improve the district as a whole with specialty programs and K-8 schools.

Read the first installment of Few's series here. The second installment will be in the Sunday, Mar. 8 edition of the Savannah Morning News.
