DeKalb Commissioner Boyer To Learn Fate This Week
Primary Content
Former DeKalb County Commissioner Elaine Boyer will learn her fate this week.
She faces one to two years in federal prison for stealing more than $90,000 dollars from the county.
In September, Boyer pleaded guilty to funnelling $78,000 dollars to an evangelist who posed as a legislative consultant. Prosecutors say Boyer then received part of that money in kickbacks.
Boyer was also accused of ringing up more than $15,000 dollars in personal items on her county-issued purchase card. Boyer agreed to cooperate with an ongoing investigation into DeKalb County government, in exchange for a lighter sentence.
