The Atlanta Public School system says a person who is regularly at Bunche Middle School in Atlanta has active tuberculosis.

Parents have been notified.

In a statement released Wednesday, school officials say tests confirmed the person had the active form of the disease on March 20.

Prelimary exam results for active TB came back negative, but parents received notice Friday March 13 letting them know a possible active case had been at the school. When results were confirmed as positive, a plan to conduct testing at the institution was created by Atlanta Public Schools and Fulton County Health Services.

School and health officials are holding an information session on the situation at Bunche Middle School Thursday, March 26 at 6 p.m. Due to the confidential medical nature of information to be discussed, the meeting is limited to parents, students and school staff.

Free TB tests will be given starting March 31 from 10 a.m - 2 p.m. and results will be revealed two days later.
