Flint River Gets First Executive Director
Primary Content
The Flint River is getting an executive director. According to the Macon Telegraph, Satilla Riverkeeper Gordon Rogers is switching jobs to become the Flint River keeper. He’ll be its first.
Riverkeepers keep tabs on the health of a river, advocate for its protection and collect evidence used in lawsuits against companies or regulators allowing pollution or other damage.
The federal court ruling on Lake Lanier last month had a hand in Rogers' decision to take the job.
He thinks the pressure will be on to take water from the Flint to help Atlanta’s water supply.
