Relocated Black Bear Killed in Georgia
Primary Content
A Florida black bear relocated several times by wildlife officials has been killed in Georgia.
It was first captured in Broward County, then ear-tagged and put in a forest nearby.
After another relocation, the bear moved north and swam across the St. Mary’s River into Georgia.
Wildlife officials there captured it again and placed the bear in a forest.
But it turned up Saturday in Georgia's Screven County about 100 miles north of Jacksonville.
It never harmed anyone, but appeared to have no fear of humans.
A local resident shot the bear after consulting wildlife officials.
