Authorities say five people are dead, after a single-engine plane crashed in Bacon County in Southeast Georgia.

Sheriff Richard Foskey tells the Florida Times-Union that wreckage of the aircraft was found late Wednesday afternoon in the Rockingham community, after a day-long search. Foskey says the plane took off from the Bacon County Airport around 3 a.m.

The county corner says the RV-10 clipped some pine trees and appeared to crash nose-first.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.
