Prosecutor To Seek Death Penalty In Brunswick Murders
Primary Content

A prosecutor says he will seek the death penalty against a man accused of killing his father and seven others on Georgia’s coast last month.
On Monday, a Glynn County grand jury indicted Guy Heinze Jr. on eight counts of malice murder, one count of attempted murder and two drug possession charges. The county’s district attorney says the mass killings justify the death penalty.
There were no new details on the murders in the indictment. Last week, police said they believe Heinze Jr. acted alone and beat to death each of the victims with a blunt weapon.
Police say on August 29 Guy Heinze Jr. killed his father, uncle and several cousins who lived in a mobile home in Brunswick. It was Heinze Jr. who made a frantic 911 call, saying “my whole family’s dead”.
An attorney for Heinze Jr. has said his client was not involved in the slayings and will be exonerated.
