Consumers shopping for energy-saving products will be getting a break on sales taxes starting Thursday.
A purchase of any Energy Star-qualified or Water Sense-labeled product or appliance with a price tag of $1,500 or less will be free of state and local taxes.
Items eligible for the tax-break include qualified dishwashers, clothes washers, air conditioners, ceiling fans, fluorescent light bulbs, dehumidifiers, programmable thermostats, refrigerators, doors, windows and skylights.
WaterSense-labeled products eligible for the sales tax exemption include bathroom sink faucets or aerators and high-efficiency toilets.
The tax holiday runs through Sunday.
