Georgia Southern Hires New Football Coach
Primary Content
Georgia Southern has a new head football coach.
Jeff Monken is the choice to take-over the Eagles' program. He follows Chris Hatcher, who was not brought back by the school after a three-year tenure and a losing mark of 5-6 this season.
Monken returns to Statesboro where he served as an assistant from 1997 to 2001. He had following stops at Navy, and most recently Georgia Tech, where he served on the staff of Paul Johnson--a former Georgia Southern head coach.
In Monken's five years with the Eagles, the program tallied a 62-10 overall record, two NCAA FCS National Championships, five consecutive NCAA FCS playoff appearances, five Southern Conference championships, and the school's second undefeated regular season.
