State revenue numbers for February are down 9.9 percent over last year.

That's bad news for the state budget which is now $180 million short for the rest of the fiscal year. Lawmakers were hoping to see the state's economy improve this month.

Georgia has now had negative revenue figures for at least 15 consecutive months. Governor Sonny Perdue's spokesman, Bert Brantley, says low numbers in February are usually expected.

"You're dealing really with the lowest month of the year in terms of revenue," Brantley says. "But we're disappointed; we would have liked to see it go up."

Governor Perdue will now have to review the overall revenue estimate for the year. He will decide whether to adjust it later this week.
