State Tax Refunds Could Return Sooner
Primary Content
More Georgians are using the Internet to file their tax returns. And state revenue officials say that should in-turn get refunds back to people faster.
Compared to tax deadline day last year, electronic filing is up 4-percent.
Last year, while struggling with staffing cuts, the state’s Department of Revenue needed until the end of August to process Georgia returns. That meant the state was forced to pay-out some interest.
This year, officials say they expect to meet its goal of mailing all refunds by July 15th. A second-shift of state revenue workers is helping, as well as the higher number of E-filers.
