Bank Sues Former Rep. Graves and Senator Rogers
Primary Content
A bank is suing two Georgia politicians and their businesses for repayment of $2.3M loan.
Bartow County bank claims former state Representative Tom Graves and State Senate Majority leader Chip Rogers and two their businesses failed to repay a real estate loan.
The bank wants the loan repaid with interest and is seeking legal fees.
Graves is running for Congress for the north Georgia seat that Nathan Deal vacated to run for governor.
In court documents first reported by WSB-TV and The Times in Gainesville, Graves says the bank went back on a promise to refinance the loan. He has filed a counter claim and issued a statement saying he is "fully confident that a satisfactory resolution will be reached once all the facts have come to light."
