Georgia Democratic Party chair Jane Kidd is telling local party

heads to silence their criticism of U.S. Rep. John Barrow.

Barrow is a Savannah Democrat facing opposition in next month's

primary election.

A letter Kidd sent to county chairmen in Barrow's southern Georgia

district says they need to resign if they continue to criticize Barrow publicly.

Barrow faces former state Sen. Regina Thomas in the Democratic

primary July 20.

Some county chairmen have said Barrow's vote against the federal

health care overhaul has angered core Democrats.

Montgomery County Democratic chairman John Brewer has said he's

so angry that he won't vote for Barrow.

Brewer said he was speaking as a private individual, not as county

chairman.
