Two More Georgia Banks Fail
Primary Content
Two more Georgia banks have failed. Late Friday, the First National Bank of Barnesville was closed. It has re-opened under United Bank of Zebulon.
Also shut-down Friday was Gordon Bank, among one of the smallest in the state, located about 20 miles east of Macon. It has re-opened under control of Morris Bank of Dublin.
The two most recent failures are the first in the state since three were closed in mid-September.
16 banks have closed in Georgia this year, and since 2008, 46 have failed--leading the nation.
The two closures Friday were among seven that day, including other banks in Florida, Illinois, Kansas and Arizona.
