Ga Tech Nanomedicine Center Gets Grant

A Georgia Tech nanomedicine research center has received a $16.1 million grant as part of its renewal by the National Institutes of Health.
The Nanomedicine Center for Nucleoprotein Machines plans to work on developing a technology that can correct single-gene disorders like sickle cell disease. The grant will last for five years.
The center is one of eight NIH nanomedicine centers created in 2005 and 2006. The Georgia Tech-led center has participation from eight universities, including Harvard University, New York University, Stanford University and MIT.
