Rain and high humidity over the past few days have helped fire crews in southeast Georgia.

They say they’ve been able to make good progress fighting three large wildfires.

Currently, more than 30,000 acres are burning in Clinch, Bacon, Ware and Long counties.

A steady rain fell Sunday night and there was occasional drizzle Monday.

The fires are not fully under control but no homes are threatened.

The Georgia Forestry Commission says there’s plenty of organic fuel to keep these fires going for a while.

On Friday, Governor Nathan Deal issued a state of emergency for the four counties.

The Obama Administration also plans to release federal funds to reimburse the state for firefighting costs.
