Gov. Nathan Deal has named another major donor to the Georgia Board of Regents.

Deal announced Monday that Neil Pruitt Jr., CEO of Atlanta-based health care company UHS-Pruitt Corp., will join the 18-member board. The board oversees the state's 35 public colleges and universities.

Pruitt, his family and his company donated $44,900 to Deal's gubernatorial campaign, according to campaign finance records. Pruitt was a member of Deal's transition team when the former congressman was elected to the governor's office last fall.

In January, Deal named Philip Wilheit of Gainesville to the board. Wilheit, president of Wilheit Packaging and Marketing Images, is a longtime Deal backer. He was a key player on his transition team and donated tens of thousands of dollars to Deal.
