About 25 members of a Georgia-based Air Force unit who are among the last members of the U.S. military to leave Iraq will have to wait a little longer before they arrive home.

Robins Air Force Base officials said an unexpected delay means the airmen from the 689th Combat Communications Wing won't be back until next week. Their homecoming had been scheduled for Sunday.

The airmen were among the last out of Iraq after the U.S. military quietly declared an end to the war last week.

Before they left, the Georgia airmen turned over communications at Sather Air Base in Iraq to local officials. More than 1,000 U.S. airmen had deployed there since 2003 to operate, defend and improve communications and information systems during the war.
