A panel charged with ensuring compliance with Georgia laws on immigration has received its first complaint.

The Immigration Enforcement Review Board met Friday and discussed the process for handling complaints. The board also voted former Fulton County GOP chairman Shawn Hanley vice chairman.

The first complaint filed by activist D.A. King names Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and city council members.

King's complaint says a city ordinance violates a new state law targeting illegal immigration by recognizing a Mexican matricula consular ID card for city government transactions. The Georgia law says agencies that administer public benefits can't accept the matricula consular.

A spokesman for the mayor says city employees have been trained on acceptable forms of ID and the matricula consular isn't one of them.
