Officials at a central Georgia military distribution center said this week blood tests for lead exposure on about half of the 34 civilians who work there have been normal; 18 test results are pending.

The Defense Logistics Agency at Robins Air Force Base reported the results in a statement.

The testing followed recent findings from the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration related to lead contamination concerns and working conditions at the facility.

The Defense Logistics Agency said it is developing plans for cleanup of Building 1602 at the base, and DLA personnel are working with the base to use a contractor who does that type of work.

DLA distributes supplies to all branches of the military.
