A Georgia politician and a Michigan humanitarian project founder will be honored with public service awards bearing President John F. Kennedy's name.

The late president's daughter, Caroline Kennedy, will present the 2012 New Frontier Awards on Monday at the JFK Library and Museum in Boston.

The awards recognize Americans younger than 40 whose public service exemplifies JFK's spirit.

Stacey Abrams, minority leader of Georgia's House of Representatives, is one of this year's award winners. She is the first woman to lead either party in Georgia's General Assembly.

Veronika Scott also will be honored for her project in Detroit that provides jobs for female shelter residents. The women make coats for the homeless that transform into sleeping bags.

A live webcast of the 5:30 p.m. event can be viewed at www.jfklibrary.org.
