Isakson Says He Won't Support Military Strike
Primary Content
U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson says he plans to vote against authorizing a military strike in Syria.
In a statement, the Georgia Republican said Monday that he has carefully weighed the issue and has talked personally with hundreds of Georgians about a potential military intervention in Syria.
Isakson says he's concerned with the lack of a clear strategy for an attack on Syria, and the potential fallout that could come soon after.
President Barack Obama and others have said evidence exists tying a chemical gas attack on Syrian civilians to the country's government. Syrian President, Bashar Assad, has denied the allegations.
The Senate is expected to vote on the resolution this week.
